Jana Pavlič

Jana Pavlič graduated from comparative literature and French at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. She continued her education with postgraduate courses in Paris with professors Gilbert Lascault and Jacques Derrida, and in Canada. She was the manager of theatre Koreodrama in Ljubljana, the artistic producer and dramaturgical collaborator of Mladinsko Theatre in Ljubljana, between 1995 and 1997 she worked as the consultant for theatrical activities at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. From 1998 to 2005, she was the manager and co-founder of the Centre for the research of performing arts - DELAK. She has co-founded magazine Maska and festival of modern performing arts EXODOS as well as international project Laboratorio intermediale tra le arti which is based in Gorizia and under the patronage of the Province of Gorizia. As an expert on cultural policies she has prepared the execution of the regulation documents for performing and visual arts and film for the Council of Europe and the United Nations in Kosovo. Moreover, she has also carried out the research of the organization and funding of performing arts in Slovenia within the European framework for the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.

As an author, dramaturge, translator and artistic producer she has collaborated with a number of directors (Damir Zlatar-Frey, Dragan Živadinov, Vito Taufer, Diego de Brea, Dušan Mlakar, Matej Filipčič, Eduard Miler, Matjaž Pograjc, Emil Hrvatin, Peter Srpčič ...). She has published reviews, essays and papers in numerous Slovenian and foreign periodicals (Maska, Tribuna, Demokracija, Dnevnik, Nova revija, Ampak, Alternatives Théâtrales, Du Theatre ...). She has translated works of many authors, playwrights, philosophers and theoreticians from and into French (Michel Tournier, Samuel Beckett, Bernard-Marie Koltes, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Jean Baudrillard, Jacques Lacan, Umberto Eco, Georges Bataille, Henri Michaux, J.K. Huysmans, Louis Aragon, Angela Carter, Dane Zajc, Rudi Šeligo and many more).
