Katalin Timár
is a curator and theorist, a doctoral candidate in art history at ELTE University, Budapest. Between 1999 and 2001, she was a founding member of a research group for contemporary art theory, based at the Dept. of Aesthetics at ELTE University and as such, she served as programme directors of three international conferences and workshops (among which The Risks and Responsibilities of Representation was the last one). She has been the author of numerous articles and essays, and has been the editor of a dozen catalogues and other publications. Her fields of interest are photography and spectatorship, including postcolonialism and gender studies. Currently she works as a curator in the Ludwig Museum Budapest - Museum of Contemporary Art. She was the recipient of a Getty Grant (1999), a Doctoral Support Grant (CEU, 2000), and a Henry Moore Research Fellowship (2001).
