Mateja Železnik
Mateja ŽELEZNIK (1992) is a professional dancer with a diverse background in various dance styles with over fifteen years of
performance experience.
After finishing her training in classical ballet at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet Ljubljana,
she was a member of Kara’s Dance Project, Elephant in the Black Box Junior Dance Company and Youth Slovenian Ballet.
In 2017,
she joined the Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Ljubljana, where she worked as a dancer, co-creator and assistant
choreographer. She danced in many different performances produced by SNT Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, Ballet SNT Maribor, and
various producers in the contemporary art scene. She is a longtime collaborator of choreographers Lukas Zuschlag, Sanja
Nešković Peršin and Kjara Starič Wurst.
Since 2023, she is an independent artist working in Ljubljana. In the same year, she
created her first authored dance project, SQUARE1, in collaboration with Polett Kasza.
