Milan Tomášik

Milan Tomášik is a Slovakian dancer, choreographer and pedagogue. He currently lives and works in Slovenia and Belgium.

He studied dance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2004, he graduated from P.A.R.T.S., the international dance school in Brussels directed by Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker. He is a co-founder and active member of the currently very succesful Les SlovaKs Dance Collective. With them he created two dance performances (Opening Night and Jurney Home), and from 2007 performed and toured in Europe, Africa, Middle and North America. As a choreographer, he explores the meaning and the source of dance, which fuels his collaboration with Cortesia, an ensemble for renaissance music and dance.

In Slovenia he has created five dance performances: the solo Within (Dance Theatre Ljubljana, 2006), Baga-Basta in collaboraton with Alexander Gottfarb (Dance Theatre Ljubljana, 2008) 3NITI, a show for three female performers (Flota, 2008), the multimedia performance Displace body in collaboration with Jelena Milovanović (Aksioma, 2010) and the solo Off-Beat (Philéas Production, Muzeum Ljubljana, Dance Theatre Ljubljana, 2011).

He has also collaborated wit several established choreographers in Slovenia: Iztok Kovač and En-Knap - Mozart - Hype as I Wanna Be show (2005), Maja Delak and Mala Kline - Gallery of Dead Women (2005), Snježana Premuš - You (2007), and theatre director Barbara Novakovič Kolenc - Winter's Tale (2007). His teaching experiences include giving classes for professional dancers and companies as En-Knap, Ultima Vez, Dance Studio, PTL, as well as for summer workshops and festivals in many European cities.
