We can characterise the theatre of Barbara Novakovič with a series of signifiers that constantly flow into one another, comment on one another and time and again seek unique, newly created worlds. Her theatre is suffused with elements that are atmospheric, kinetic, recitative, nonverbal, conceptual, physical, choreographic, postdramatic and theoretical. This theatrical language continually wanders between the reality of philosophical elaborations and the fragility of performative transience.

The Stool M025 is a simple form with solid side panels and an added transverse shelf for storage under the seat. It is made of solid cherry wood in a natural finish. The two parallel planes between the seat and the shelf are joined at the sides by unevenly concave curves. On the storage shelf’s horizontal rail, a shallow engraving incorporates a fragment of a cutting pattern for knitwear. As the natural wood darkens over time, the engraved contour lines will become more pronounced.

Etymologically, the Slovenian word for stool, pručka, is associated with a raised platform (oder) and a bridge (most). It is borrowed from the High German forms, prucke / brucke / Brücke, meaning “a raised platform for sitting, or a makeshift bed next to a stove” as well as “bridge”. It is also related to the Slovenian word for “a log” (brūno).
