Theory open trilogy

From October 2002 to June 2003 in the frame of the trilogy Talking house-Theory Open I-III three installations were set in three different galleries in the city.

The Word and the Letter
The topic that connects both installations are racing pigeons, (in Slovene we say postman pigeons) as recording of the memory, the print or the written record on the surface. The pigeon is the symbol of the memory - a written word. The source are the Middle Age letters as images, which lead to the prints of pigeons feet, the print of the nature on the surface. With the time passing the feet have modified into the meaning, a concrete letter of the alphabet.

The Line and the City
Thus the pigeons in the installation link the letter as the image and the city. The existing, deliberately lost, unnamed, hidden, aberrated,, new... The pigeons on the roof of the houses, on the squares, in the parks, the pigeons which transmit the messages full of letters, the literature, the story. I am interested in the prints of their walks, circling or in lines, or in corners.

The Excrement - White Stain - Holly Spirit
When the pigeons had left, the trace of life stayed in the space. A stain remained, the white stain on the surface of the books or on the frame of the image. Letters as visual image and the meaning is as a matter of fact an excrement. We know that the pigeon was there, the trace is here. The stain as the object replaces the memory, the objecthood. The memory of the pigeons is substituted, replaced with the written words, literature, poetry, a story.
The pigeons shit on the books, but it was actually invisible (the installation of San Francesco)

The Convex -Concave
IIn San Lazarus installation: the pigeons stayed in the gallery for tree days, they drank from image of words under the water, "hung" on the floor, when they were thirsty. There where 30 pigeons in the St.Francesco installation and 40 pigeons in St.Lazarus installation in the third part of the Theory Open there where 12 pigeons.

Vanishing Image - St.Teresa
The canvass is torn, out of the frame and wrapped around the actress body. The golden frame is hanging in the space substituting the projection screen. On the wall the image of the books leafing in wind. The pigeon number 002 with the cassette with the message.
