TIME OF TENDERNESS

Time of Tenderness | Muzeum 25 years, 2020-2021

The dance performance Time of Tenderness conceived as part of the 25th anniversary of the Muzeum Theatre consists of fragments and redefinition of the projects staged in a time span from 1995 to 2019. The intertwining of encounters in the field of iconography through the prism of memory, with temporal and spatial references, ties the discussed themes to a broader context. The protagonists of the performance are dwelling in the memories of the images created in theatre Muzeum, embracing reminiscences of the stage images that carry the poetic impulses in themselves.
A tangible point of events within the flood of memories and upcoming events is the table around which the (inner) world revolves. The performance is an attempt to answer the question, where and what is home. The project delves into a seeming everydayness that bears deep social rifts.
The starting point is the painting At Home (Doma) by Jozef Petkovsek. The work addresses the simultaneity of closeness and alienation, tenderness and absence, attention and indifference. In the intersection of glances that meet at the distant point along the table surface, the family fulfills what we aspire to in life. The layering and diversity of the venues within stage language draw inspiration from the images of libraries, scribes, architecture, and dance. Hence, looking back and anchoring in the upcoming platforms place the performance in the present.
